Foodess Headshots 21 200x300 About Jennifer

Hi, I’m Jenn! I’m in the foodess kitchen – making a mess and making something delicious, in equal parts.

I live in Vancouver with my hungry and charming husband Adarsh, and our floppy-eared Irish Setter (who more than makes up in cuteness what he lacks in brains). Both are champion spoon-lickers.

I come from a small town in New Brunswick, on the chilly Canadian North Atlantic. The storms are fierce, the winters long, and the ocean icy – but the neighbours are warm and their doors are unlocked. On the coldest nights we gather for what we call “maritime kitchen parties”: friends and family crowding around the heart of the home to share stories, laughter, music and nourishing, home-cooking. There’s no better way to warm your body or your soul.

I like to think of Foodess as my kitchen party, transplanted to the opposite coast; my place to share comfort food and real life.

Things I am obsessed with right now include: cozy soups, crusty artisanal bread, tart citrusy desserts, hearty bean dishes, and slow-roasted meat on the bone.

By day I am a recipe developer, food photographer, freelance writer and food industry nutrition consultant.

I’m part of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, with special membership in the Food Photographers & Stylists, Nutrition & Food Science, and Test Kitchen Professionals groups. I’m a registrant with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia, and a member of Dietitians of Canada.
