They used corn syrup to make it a chewier cookie... you could use any golden syrup you have where you are, or else skip it. Most recipes like this have 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar, so you could just try that instead...

is the corn syrup absolutely necessary?
I can't find it over here where I live and was just planning on omitting it out of the recipe.

I used marshmallows, chocolate chips, oatmeal and egg whites + sugar delicious icing. The cookies are amazing! The thing is that the marshmallows melt and disappear. I started with 350/10 minutes, and tried different times and temperature - if marshmallows stay in one piece - the cookie is not raw. Any ideas?

The photo of your cookies was so incredibly appetizing that I had to try it, too. Though I had some difficulties to follow the directions percisely (as I live in Europe) it worked very well. The cookies are soft and sweet ~ a dream.

(But I must say, that for "European taste" there is far too much sugar in them, so I decided not to add the cup of sugar. The result was still sweet and delicious!!!!)

Thank you for the recipe!!!

These look yummy and I really want to make them, but I don't have any corn syrup! Please, someone help me figure out a substitution. Can I just use sugar?
